Hybrid model, location.

Areas we’ll trust you with:

  • Build backend services & developer tooling (TypeScript/Node)
  • Deliver 12-factor microservices, shared libraries that would be used across the entire eco-system.
  • Run and extend high-throughput event pipelines
  • Design, evolve and operate our events layer so every service enjoys reliable, traceable messaging. Own schema versioning, capacity planning and developer-friendly abstractions that hide the complexity and increase velocity.
  • Own architecture decisions & design
  • Drive data-store and service-design trade-offs—e.g., ACID tables in SQL vs NoSQL for elastic scale, or splitting read/write models—capturing rationale in ADRs and mentoring teams through migrations.
  • Champion security & auth from design to implementation
  • Extend our OAuth2/OIDC stack, design and implement solutions to fit high industry standards across multiple providers with OWASP top 10 in mind.
  • Level-up developer experience
  • Ship templates, docs, and dashboards that remove boilerplate for tens of engineers, in the spirit of “making backend development seamless.”
  • Instrument, observe, optimise From OpenTelemetry traces to Datadog SLOs, push observability standards and tracing performance issues.

Areas of your knowledge and Expertise:

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering
  • Expert TypeScript/Node skills; comfortable reading Ruby or Python code.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and initiatives with a strategic architecture mindset.
  • Hands-on with event-driven patterns (RabbitMQ, Kafka, or equivalents).
  • Obsessed with DX: you’ve created internal SDKs, scaffolding tools, or “golden path” docs that multiplied team velocity.
  • Comfortable tracing issues from code to cloud using standard industry observability tools.
  • Can turn architecture into clear design documents.
  • Enthusiastic and embracing AI-powered pair-programming platforms (Cursor, Windsurf, etc.)

Bonus points

  • Practical security experience: OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, etc.
  • Proven record of shipping in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
  • Extra bonus: experience with multi-region “cellular” or Landing Zone AWS setups.

How we work

  • You build it, you run it: Teams own services end-to-end, including on-call (pager frequency is low and shared).
  • Bottom-up ownership: Engineers write ADRs; architects facilitate, not dictate.
